Subject Tracking
What is Subject Tracking?
Subject Tracking intelligently follows a person or object in your video, adjusting the frame to keep it centered and in focus. This eliminates shaky, awkward cropping and delivers smooth, cinematic reframing—perfect for vertical shorts, social media clips, or polished edits.
1. Moving Speaker Tracking (Automatic)
Ideal for: Videos with one primary speaker who moves naturally (e.g., pacing during a presentation, gesturing in a vlog).
How It Works:
- Automatic Detection: OpusClip identifies the active speaker using voice and motion cues.
- Smooth Camera Shifting: The frame adjusts gradually to follow the speaker’s movements, avoiding jarring jumps.
- Hands-Free Editing: No setup required—just upload your video, and let the AI handle the rest.
Pro Tip: Use this for interviews, monologues, or solo content where the speaker is the clear focal point.
2. Manual Subject Tracking (Customizable)
Ideal for: Creative control in complex scenes — track any subject (human or non-human) or switch focus between multiple subjects.
How It Works:
- Select a scene that you want to reframe from the timeline
- Click Tracker to enable manual subject tracking.
- Click to select the subject you want to track. Once selected, the AI will automatically identify and track the subject for you.
- You can click again to expand the selection box.
- You can also select different subjects to track in different scenes. Your selected subject is only identified and tracked in the underlined scenes. To track another subject, click on a highlighted scene to choose another subject.
- After the subject is selected, you can start tracking it.
Works for Any Content
- Track non-human subjects: Products, animals, vehicles, or text (e.g., following a chef’s hands in a cooking demo or a drone in action).
- Human tracking: Faces, full-body movement, or specific gestures.
FAQ
Q: Can I track non-human subjects automatically?
A: Automatic tracking prioritizes speakers. For objects/animals, use Manual Subject Tracking.
Q: Can I combine automatic and manual tracking?
A: Absolutely! The AI will automatically apply moving speaker tracking by default. If it doesn’t perfectly follow your intended subject, you can always use manual tracking to fix it.
